This Requests A Slot, It Does Not Confirm One

Nothing is booked and nothing is charged when you send this. What happens is that Bao reads it, works out whether a full ladder is actually the right thing for the problem you have described, and rings you back with two or three times that fit.

The most useful box on the form is the one asking what the club does wrong. Be specific and be unflattering — thin from the fairway, fine off a tee, worse after June tells us more than three paragraphs about what you would like to happen.

A fifty dollar deposit holds the bay once a time is agreed, and it comes off the session fee. Nothing is taken from this page.

Before the call

What We Will Ask You On The Phone

Four questions, every time, and knowing them in advance saves five minutes.

  1. How many rounds a year

Not to judge you. It decides whether a seasonal second wedge is sensible, how fast grips will glaze, and whether a full ladder or a bench job is the honest recommendation.

  2. Where you play most

Courses in this valley differ enormously in how firm they run and how much kikuyu is in the collars. Knowing yours changes how we weight rungs two and three.

  3. When it last got looked at

A set that has never been measured is a different conversation from one that was fitted eighteen months ago. Lie drifts, lofts close up, and both are cheap to correct.

  4. What you are prepared to spend

Asked early rather than late, because it changes which candidates go on the cart. A session that ends in a recommendation you were never going to act on has wasted your morning and ours.

The Phone Works Too

Plenty of people skip this form entirely and that is fine. During opening hours somebody will pick up unless a session is running, in which case leave a message and it comes back the same day.

The short version

Rough Fit Lab is a two-person bench on North Blackstone with a turf plot behind it. Every candidate build gets hit off mown grass, off bare valley ground, out of a kikuyu collar, and out of settled rough before anybody writes a spec down. If a club only behaves on the first surface, it does not leave with you.

  • Turf plot behind the bay
  • No brand quota, no house line
  • Build sheet printed, not emailed
